Ambulatory (Holter) ECG Monitoring

Ambulatory electrocardiographic (ECGmonitoring is used to help doctors diagnose intermittent cardiac arrhythmias that occur only infrequently and unpredictably. Such arrhythmias often produce sudden symptoms, but typically are no longer present by the time a person gets to a doctor.

The main advantage of an implantable loop recorder is that it provides monitoring for such an extended duration and allows the patient a longer period to activate the device.  Ambulatory ECG monitoring is a safe and effective means of monitoring a patient's heart rhythm on an outpatient basis.
